KNOCKOUT

Although top-flight boxers want to meet the true champion Manny Pacquiáo in the ring for both the exposure and the prize money, the Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KOs) team made a smart move when they signed him up to challenge Austin “No Doubt” Trout (25-0, 14 KOs) for his junior welterweight title. The winner will be positioned to fight top contender Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez in 2012 for some big money without risking a loss to Pacquiáo. And Cotto-Trout should be a good fight. We used to get this kind of match regularly at the Garden, and now, thanks to Pacquiáo’s popularity and the competition from Barclays Center, we can look forward to more. First fight at 5:45, but you have plenty of time for dinner before the big draw—the card includes eight other fights with something for everyone, ranging from silver featherweight to middleweight. For fight fans, it should be fun.
