Nick Hallett knows women. Lots of them. And he got them to back him up for his latest original song-cycle at Joe's Pub. In Man in the Matriarchy, the art-folk-pop singer/songwriter devotes his lyrics to the female gender, though they're admittedly "written by a man who is not generally identified as the world's leading expert." The Matriarchy for this show include performers Jennifer Black, Lady Rizo, and the legendary Alice Playten, who will sing of women's allures, struggles for pleasures, and "the qualities [women] present from which a man like me can stand to learn a thing or two." Most men, in fact, could stand to learn a thing or two from Nick Hallett.
