Drew Daniel is a true Renaissance nerdhes one-half of Björk-endorsed sound sculptures Matmos; hes got a respectable house music project under the name Soft Pink Truth; and hes got a fairly busy side-hustle as a fully legit rock writer. Tonight, he covers all his bases, starting with a reading from his recent 33 1/3 book on avant-confrontationists Throbbing Gristles 20 Jazz Funk Greats. His book is a mix of interviews and personal narrative, spilling from his deep firsthand knowledge of electronic musics spiritual workings. Following a brief Q&A, hell flip open his laptop for a solo dance music/noise performance that should surely touch on the meticulous elements of Daniels projects as well as the impulsive spirit of Gristle. Proceeds go to Housing Works efforts to help the homeless living with HIV and AIDS.
