LAUGH AWAY YOUR 401(K)
If life has seemed less funny lately, that's probably because it is. The New York Comedy Festival won't resurrect your retirement savings, but it will take your mind off the misery, with a stellar lineup of stand-up shows, panel discussions, and sketch comedy. The biggest names in the business of funny—including Sarah Silverman, Tracy Morgan, and Katt Williams—will perform at venues across the city, and because things continue to suck in the real world, festival organizers are once again presenting "Stand-Up For Heroes," their second annual benefit for the Bob Woodruff Fund, which assists injured members of the U.S. military. For the first time, Comedy Central will be airing highlights from the four-day festival, so put on your biggest smile for a chance to bask in the glory of an audience close-up shot.
