(John Stahl, 1945). One of the great Hollywood melodramas of the 1940s, this gorgeous production stars Gene Tierney as a father-fixated psychopath who transfers her obsession to the young novelist she marries. Leon Shamroy's lush Technicolor cinematography won him a well-deserved Oscar.
