LET THEM EAT CAKE
While it may seem as if we've hit a new period of austerity, Dances of Vice is one party that still encourages you to channel your inner Marie Antoinette. Exquisite gowns? Check. Ballroom dancing? Check. Copious amounts of alcohol? Oh, yes. Celebrating the arrival of spring, this month's decadent gathering, Le Sacre du Printemps Spring Ball, features live music by Fern Knight, Melora Creager of Rasputina, and Lucas Lanthier of the Deadfly Ensemble; theatrical dance by the neo-Baroque group Company XIV; and puppetry by the Royal Baritarian Players. Get there early to take advantage of the stylists in their hair and makeup parlor and learn how to waltz (starting at 7:30, sharp). Dress code is Victorian, Renaissance, Baroque, paganistic, or Carnevale. Or if you're not sure what any of those mean, just do your best to look fancy.
