Rooted in the Meters, Tower of Power, and Curtis Mayfield, these groove-hardy cabbage patch kids combine the four classical elements to make funk gold: earth, wind, fire, and ... lettuce. It's a precise alchemy, but as veterans of Soulive, the Rustic Overtones, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band, they know the exact ratios of shuffle, horn hit, and soul to lay it down right. The guys originally met at a Berklee summer program and had instant chemistry, the band camp wet dream of every Jaco Pastorius and Maceo Parker worshipper.
