First Brooklyn had them, then Berlin; now Liars call Los Angeles home. Yet if you think that means these art-punk dudes have gone sunny-and-satisfied, take a listen to Sisterworld, the band's just-released latest: Reportedly inspired by a spell frontman Angus Andrew spent living and working above a La Brea Avenue medical-marijuana dispensary, it's the band's creepiest, most unsettled work yet. (A companion disc of remixes by the likes of Thom Yorke and Alan Vega doesn't exactly brighten the mood.) L.A.based openers Fol Chen—two members of which are currently playing in Liars' live band—come on like a slightly garage-ier Hot Chip.
