Souza’s jazz bonafides have been proven in her several breathtaking encounters with guitarist Romero Lubambo. There, her throaty chirp flits with deep authority and arty judiciousness. As of a couple years ago, her pop moves lacked such splendor, but she definitely knows how to inhabit a tune, so improvement is more than likely, and tonight’s ensemble, including Brazilian sax phenom Nailor Azevedo, is perfect for her improviser’s soul.
