LUST FOR LIFE
Last week San Francisco's Girls released their sophomore full-length to some of the year's best reviews, and this week, the enigmatic indie crew hit New York for a sold-out two-night stand at the Bowery Ballroom. Like 2009's Album, the new Father, Son, Holy Ghost is rich with echoes of forebears both hip (Elvis Costello) and not so (Bread). But frontman (and purported ex-cult member) Christopher Owens gives his songs a potent shot of damaged romance. If you wanna catch his act but don't have Bowery tickets, Girls are also scheduled to play a free show September 21 at Other Music [at 9 at 15 East 4th Street, 212-477-8150].
Thu., Sept. 22, 9 p.m.; Fri., Sept. 23, 9 p.m., 2011
