Variety is the spice of life at the Zipper Factory’s Open Fly Cabaret, now that first Mondays are hosted by the Maestrosities, a motley crew of instrumentalists playing pop hits on everything but the kitchen sink. They’ve written parts for spoons, ukulele, accordion, and tuba into “Material Girl,” the “Star Wars Cantina Song,” and the oeuvre of the Jackson Five. Tonight, the band celebrates its birthday with the queen of conceptual burlesque, Julie Atlas Muz, who will be the candle on the birthday cake (and unwrap the presents, if you’re lucky). Other special guests include Paolo Garbanzo, the official court jester of Muncaster, England, who will juggle five knives and eat an onion, and South Street Seaport street performer, Magic Brian.
