The Cyclones are celebrating their 10th season in style, leading their division in the New YorkPenn League and fielding some of the leagues hottest players. Centerfielder Darrell Ceciliani (who has hit close to .400 for much of the season), shortstop Ryan Sandoval, and third baseman Joe Bonfe are in the top five batters in the league, while two pitchersYohan Almonte (ERA 1.73) and Angel Cuan (1.91)are among the top five pitchers. Good news for Mets fans: The Cyclones have sent 25 players to the big leaguesmost recently, Ike Davis. Theyve won four division titles, made the playoffs six times, and were co-champions in 2001. Not bad for 10 years! Two things you can always count on at a Cyclone game: the Hot Dog Race (though we suspect its rigged, as Relish almost always loses), and the atmosphere of MCU Park, one of the loveliest fields in the country, with the beach on one side and a fabulous view of the Wonder Wheel. And tonight, theres even a free Road Replica Jersey for the first 2,500 fans. If you cant catch this game against the Vermont Lake Monsters, come over the weekend when the Cyclones take on their arch rival, the Tri-City Valley Cats. Its the last regular season home stand of 2010.
