Quebec's foremost Francophone indie rockers returned this year with their fourth album, La Caverne, which was recorded in an actual geodesic-shaped cave in the Canadian forest. The change of scene helped: Malajube are now playing their most accessible rock 'n' roll yet, which is gloriously infused with disco-beat breakdowns, proggy guitar solos, and harmonized French singing of urgency that needs no translation. Boston openers Pretty & Nice bring an American-styled post punk to all the twee Montreal separatism.
