Last year, T Cooper published a piece in The Believer titled “So There’s This Man,” which concerned the delicate details of how he told his parents that he “wasn’t their daughter anymore.” An honest recounting of his female-to-male transition, the essay was hugely popular and inspired Cooper to put together a book on the subject. The result is Real Man Adventures (McSweeney’s), a collection of letters, essays, and interviews (including with his wife and the parents of other transgender children). For this book-launch party, Cooper will be on hand to read and sign copies. Plus, catch a set from the outrageous downtown performance artist Dynasty Handbag and music by Hem, the Wingdale Community Singers, and Geo Wyeth.
