Man Bites Dog
Dir. Remy Belvaux & Andre Bonzel (1991).
This controversial black and white Belgian mock documentary is concerned with Ben (Benoit Poelvoorde), a serial killer who is followed around by a two-man camera crew while he rapes and murders young and old, and between atrocities spouts poetry, vomits, and runs around naked on a beach. It'sgee whiz!a satire on our culture's desensitization to violence and the culpability of the media. Unfortunately, the lead character of this obnoxious, self-important time-waster is both a one-man crime wave and a one-trick pony.
