Maps & Atlases+Princeton
Where most bands go loud, indie rockers Maps & Atlases always seem to pull back. They whisper, noodle out guitar textures, and allow their songs to skitter about. Members of the band have claimed that many of their songs began as folk songs, but given the complexity of their guitar "riffs," that claim is dubious. Openers Princeton (who actually are from Eagle Rock, California) suffer the same inhibitions as Maps & Atlases but with a stronger bent toward pop hooks and orchestration. With Laura Stevenson and the Cans.
