The leftie lingo Halvorson has been refining has really come into its own; a few weeks ago, the guitarist snuck a wonderfully crazed and totally unexpected solo into a Jenny Scheinman tune. She fashions her lines without an iota of flash; each of them are given the weight they deserve. Often, their job is leading us down a string of circuitous paths, and usually there's a luminous reward waiting at the end. This three-night affair begins with a new quintet and ends with her celebrated trio.
