Contemporary classical may sound like an oxymoron to some, but for the uninitiated, this cross-cultural showcase should prove otherwise. Founded in 1996 by a group including Philip Glass, this year's festival brings together composers from nine countries to show just how accessible and immersive the scene can be. Highlights include an all-female recorder quartet from Berlin, solo kantele, a zither-like string instrument native to Finland, and an existential duet between player piano and a live pianist.
