McCoy Tyner Trio
The last man standing from Coltrane's classic quintet is now a living legend himself. At 71, he's only a few years older than most of the classic rockers of the '60s, albeit with much more chops and soloing skills, balanced out by a strong left-handed dramatic grounding. This gig's unique not only because he's out of the usual jazz club circuit but also because he's teamed with saxman Gary Bartz, who first recorded with Tyner in the late '60s and has made a habit of playing with him again for the last several years. With Francisco Mela's Cuban Safari.
