Usually a solo performer, Bala Cynwyd-born Mirah's most recent work features Thao Nguyen, a performer who brings an extra touch of experimental verve. Still, whether she’s collaborating with a friend or strumming alone, Mirah delivers something that few these days can honestly hate: folky indie pop with subdued strings and modest but deliberate melodies. She shares a smoky soulfulness with St. Vincent and adds a youthful charm to her perfectly executed marches with equal ease.
