Brooklyn, from its beautiful brownstones to the boardwalk at Coney Island, has long captured the attention of filmmakers who find the borough’s gritty charm irresistible. Brooklyn Close-Up, a monthly series at BAM, celebrates nine decades of Brooklyn film history with a new film every month. Tonight, the series looks at Brooklyn’s criminal side with Martin Scorsese’s 1990 Oscar-winning mafia classic Goodfellas, starring Ray Liotta, Robert De Niro, and Joe Pesci as gangsters working their way up the mobster ladder. Keeping the Brooklyn theme going, Brooklyn Brewery will be in the lobby from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. serving samples of their brew BAMboozle.
