NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM
Ever been museum-hopping? It’s like bar-hopping, but classier. Tonight is the perfect time to peruse. Since 1978, the Museum Mile Festival has been casting open the doors to some of the city’s most revered cultural destinations, luring in many a flâneur with free admission, live music, and carnival atmosphere. Think of it as artsy trick-or-treating for adults. Among the 10 participating institutions are the ever-popular Guggenheim, where you can experience the neo-design sensibilities of Italian Futurism, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, now showing Charles James: Beyond Fashion, the inaugural exhibition at the new Anna Wintour Costume Center. You might also take this opportunity to get to know some of the city’s more specialized galleries, like The Jewish Museum, El Museo del Barrio, The Africa Center, and the Smithsonian’s National Design Museum. From 6 to 9, Fifth Avenue between 82nd and 105th streets.
