NIGHT TIME, HER TIME
With the release of her 2010 single “One,” a gorgeous track assembled by producers Bloodshy and Avant (Britney Spears, Miike Snow), Sky Ferreira became a favorite of hip dance parties and certain pop-loving corners of the Internet. But the song’s follow-up single and EP both went nowhere, and what should have been her debut album was shelved indefinitely. Hey, sometimes the label gets it right: In the years since, Ferreira has switched up her style, mining everything from new wave to grunge, teamed up with producer Ariel Rechtshaid (Vampire Weekend, Haim, Charli XCX), and released an EP (last year) and an album (last week) both living up to the promise of that first single. Tonight, she celebrates the latter with a performance at Webster Hall ; come prepared to dance. With Smith Westerns.
