Dir. Jacques Tourneur (1956). Directed by Jacques Tourneur from a David Goodis novel, Nightfall is a nifty late noir and a model of economical filmmakingheavy on sudden danger and instant love. Youre the most wanted man I know the young, sultry Anne Bancroft tells beleaguered Aldo Ray. The cocktail lounge pickup is adroitly staged, the action climax expertly choreographed and theres a fashion show set piece worthy of Hitch.
