You could say that Lightning Bolt are more visceral, Hella are stranger, the White Stripes are more classic rock, or Black Keys are more trad-bound. Come what may, these music-scribe darlings fall somewhere in the spectrum of those other guitar-and-drums combos. They're tied to the noise end of the first two groups in principle but lately, they've hitched themselves to the tunefulness that makes Jack W. and the Keys run.
