NO GREATER ASSETTES
With the pubs crawling with neo-burlesque performers these days, it takes more than sparkly pasties to win over a crowd. Caburlesque artist Lady Rizo has, thankfully, upped the ante: Shes shared her pipes with the likes of Moby and Nellie McKay, and in her new show, Girls and Dolls, shell be backed by a four-piece band, as well as her glam bottom-baring dance troupe (known as the Assettes). Coney Island can have its striptease and tassel-twirl; this troupe spices up the burlesque stage by reinventing 80s songs with a vintage torch flair while throwing in enough hyperfemininity to blow your heart and go down on your mind.
