I will not make any more boring art, scribbled John Baldessari for 13 minutes in his legendary 1971 piece. Certainly the pioneering conceptual artist from Southern California has never been in danger of that. As an artist and professor, hes influenced future generations with his iconic videos and photo-text pieces that poke fun at the established art world (see his Tips for Artists Who Want to Sell). Pure Beauty, his first major U.S. exhibition in 20 years, features roughly 120 works from 1962 to the present, including two large photo-compositions commissioned for this show.
