Obie Bermudez+Cucu Diamantes+Rebel Diaz
Celebrate Brooklyn offers a panoply of Latin pop featuring the charismatic mainstream crooner Obie Bermudez, who won a Latin Grammy in 2005 for his album Todo el Año. There's nothing by-the-numbers about CuCu Diamantes, an exciting Cuban-born singer, long associated with Yerba Buena, whose music crosses borders nimbly and edgewise. Originally from Chicago, the Bronx's Rebel Diaz is an activist hip-hop trio that grapples with immigration and authority issues via robust rabble-rousing.
