Even if your neighborhood hipsters keytar performances and sidewalk chalk installations have failed to wow you with their artistic merit, this city is still one of the most prolific cultural hubs in the world, and MOMA is out to prove it. The Greater New York exhibition at P.S.1 will bring together contemporary artists and collectives from the metropolitan area working in every manner of medium. The initiative, which seeks to showcase the creative process as well as the end result, invites artists to use the building as a public studio space with free range for experimentation. Related projects include the 5 Year Review, a look at important pop culture happenings in the very recent past, and a series of film and video screenings curated by the founders of Light Industry, Brooklyn. This week, the rotating gallery will feature the Baghdad batteries, with work compiled by Olivia Shao.
Tuesdays-Sundays, 11 a.m. Starts: May 23. Continues through Oct. 18, 2010
