Icelandic soundscaper Ãlafur Arnalds is the most blisscentric of the nu-indie composer school, walking some misty-eyed line between art-pop, ambient, post-rock, spiraling sweeps of strings, and stacks of sheet music. Next to his contemporaries--Jóhann Jóhannsson, Max Richter, Hauschka--he is the quickest to lull around dreamily in somnabulent bliss, and the first to try to hit those Mogwai post-rock peaks. Romantic intellectuals, get your early Valentine.
