Damian Weinkrantz, a Philadelphia-based artist and curator, hopes you'll come over to his place to hang out today. His apartment has three rooms—a living room, a bedroom, and a kitchen—and comes fully equipped with a wooden stove, a foam and fabric sink, and a fridge made of papier-mâché. (No, this isn't something out of a Michel Gondry film.) Weinkrantz has curated a new group exhibition at the Fuse Gallery, cutely titled Please Be Welcome, and the show—er, home—features a wide range of unique furnishings created by more than 20 artists. Nope, no IKEA here—instead, the offerings include a kitschy dreamcatcher and quilt by Crystal Stokowski, original hand-painted album covers by Keith Greiman, VHS tapes of classic movies painted with watercolor (such as Rocky III) by Abigail Bruley, and a skateboard made of bronze and aluminum by Jake Henry. Just try not to overstay your welcome.
