Pandit Ramesh Misra
The sarangi, which means "100 colors" in Hindu, is a squat bowed instrument that appears to have been invented by inspired aliens, with a sound strongly reminiscent of sung vocals. Misra, a disciple of Ravi Shankar, will discuss and perform his luminous music tonight, but don't be surprised if he leaves out the part about performing on Aerosmith's Asiatic Nine Lives.
