Four stages on an East River island host an almost disorienting roster of some 50 dance acts for an outdoor Labor Day party destined to be so wild that they're calling it the Electric Zoo. Dutch trance star Armin van Buuren headlines Saturday. His more underground countryman, Speedy J., proffers a harder, more abrasive alternative, unless he reverts to the gentle techno of his early "Pullover" days, while the Berlin dub of Rhythm & Sound's Mark Ernestus contrasts with the bulky French house of DJ Mehdi and Busy P. That day also offers local house legends François K, Danny Tenaglia, and Roger Sanchez, plus local young lions Sleepy & Boo and JDH & Dave P. France's Dave Guetta somehow gets top billing Sunday, but there's also Windsor master of minimalism Richie Hawtin, along with like-minded heavy-hitters Steve Bug, Audion, and Adam Beyer. DFA's James Murphy and Pat Mahoney spin a Special Disco Version set, and members of Hot Chip, Hercules & Love Affair, and Junior Boys drop their full line-ups to also show off their DJ skills.
