Marjane Satrapis autobiographical graphic-novel gave several decades of Iranian history the boldly unmodulated, flat patterning of a Little Lulu comic book. Her style was halfway to cartoon animation and makes a triumphant, near-flawless transposition to the screen with all of its charm, verve, and poignance intact.
