Pharoahe Monch

Pharoahe Monch has got to be one of the most underrated MCs in the game. Put it this way: his career stretches over the thirty-something-year chasm that separates the end of Hip-Hop’s Golden Age and the present, and he has only gained in focus and clarity what he has lost in youthful exuberance. His work with Organized Konfusion is legendary, and the iconic “Simon Says” made 1999’s Internal Affairs the most successful album of his career. Pharoahe really hit his stride as an artist with 2007’s Desire and 2011’s W.A.R., two albums that harnessed the true power of his densely acrobatic rhymes by subjugating them to a true socio-political agenda. This year’s P.T.S.D (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) continues in the same vein and plays as a twentieth-anniversary companion to the 1994 OK album Stress.
