POETIC LICENSE

You’d be hard-pressed to find many actors rushing to perform Gertrude Stein’s obscure theatrical lecture Plays. But if anyone can make her repetitive thoughts thrilling, it is the wonderful Obie-winning actor-playwright David Greenspan. For this one-night-only show, presented by the Transport Group, he performs Stein’s piece along with his own monologue, The Argument, which is based on Aristotle’s Poetics and the essays of Gerald F. Else, that our Michael Feingold has called a “solo gem.”
