When you hear the name Robert Indiana, you might first think of his famous Love sculpture situated on the corner of Sixth Avenue and West 55th Street. But “Beyond Love,” Indiana’s major retrospective at the Whitney, aims to show that the work of Indiana, who made a name for himself in Pop Art in the '60s, is much more complex than one might think. The exhibition features several of his bold works that address the “most fundamental issues facing humanity — love, death, sin, and forgiveness.” Ends today.
Mondays-Sundays, 10 a.m. Starts: Sept. 26. Continues through Jan. 5, 2013
