PORK IT OVER
There have been a lot of rumors lately about a bacon shortage, which—thank heavens!—have been proved to be false. But given that you will likely be paying more for those delicious fatty strips in the near future (due to the destruction of the corn crops this year), we suggest getting your fix at the 4th annual Brooklyn Bacon Takedown. Presented by Matt Timms (who heads up the Takedown food competitions all over the country), the contest allows you to sample bacon in all sorts of ways you never would have thought of before by 20 of the most adventurous amateur cooks. Last year’s prize-winning offerings included curry bacon nachos and bacon-wrapped s’mores. ’Nuff said!
