POUNCE ON IT
Puppets! Casios! Synchronized swimming! Now this is art punk we can believe in. Japanther is cheekily off-kilter as only two Pratt alumni can be; members Ian Vanek and Matt Reilly regularly share their squealing experimentalist energy with strange venues and even stranger multimedia collaborators, from famed marionette designer Phillip Huber to NYU's Aquadoom swim team. But to paraphrase "The Dirge," we love them no matter where they spend the night; their antsy lo-fi is still one of Brooklyn's most exciting statements. On the other coast, No Age are quaking in their Havaianas. With NinjaSonik.
