PROCEED WITH CAUTION
With their grad-student deadpan and their bare-bones jingle-jangle, Austins YellowFever recall any number of hipster-approved early-80s post-punk acts. But its not Young Marble Giants or the Raincoats they cover on their new self-released Bermuda Triangle EPits Culture Clubs Do You Really Want to Hurt Me, in which Jennifer Moore and Adam Jones give a rigorously stripped-down reading that emphasizes Boy Georges sad-clown melancholy. That said, Triangle follows hot on the heels of a self-titled singles compilation issued by Vivian Girls Wild World Records, so expect plenty of hipsters in the audience. Openers Woven Bones, also from Austin, do the fashionably fuzzy psych-garage thing familiar to fans of the Black Lips.
