The Williamsburg Fashion Weekend, self-proclaimed purveyor of everything hip and now in indie rags, is back with 14 designers showing off their latest handmade threads by way of musical performance, theatrics, interpretive dance, and whatever else an emerging artiste does to shake the stuffy traditions of the fashion trade (think synthesizers and metallic lamé). Check out new collections by returning labels such as SDN, Marcus Hickss 1920s-inspired and zombie-modeled line, the earthy Saddle Tramps Collection out of Chicago, the grommeted and studded duds of Total Crap Uninc., or the colorful concoctions and occasional freestyle rapping of Ruffeo Hearts Lil Snotty. Expect styles to range from extreme—see the animal-costumed croquet game King Gurvy brought to the stage last year—to wearable, as demonstrated by Rawan Rihanis elegant but edgy designs. In this Etsy store brought to life, the only thing thats certain is that the shows will be just as original as their garb.
