While the British literary magazine Granta was putting together its latest issue on medicine, choosing to publish a work from Chris Adrian must have been a no-brainer. Adrian, who made The New Yorker’s 20 Under 40 list of the best new writers, is not only the author of two novels and a story collection, but he is also a pediatrician. Tonight, Adrian joins Granta editor John Freeman and contributor James Lasdun at the launch party for the new issue. Then, on September 15 at BookCourt in Brooklyn, Adrian will give a dramatic reading of his story in Granta, which concerns a doctor who begins to
unravel as he delivers a lecture on illness.
