The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is fun to watch on television—even if you think no dog should have to be put through all that fuss. But there’s nothing like being there to see the animals strut their stuff. It’s almost as though they draw on the enthusiasm of the crowd. Fun facts: This is the 137th event; the only continuous sporting event older than the Westminster show is the Kentucky derby. There will be as many as 3,200 dogs competing for the title of Top Dog, representing 187 different breeds, including two new breeds this year: the Treeing Walker Coonhound and the Russell Terrier. Tickets start around $50 at both StubHub and Ticketmaster. Make sure your tickets include access to the benching area, where the daily Best of Breed winners are on display.
