Sleater-Kinney fans impatient for that group's inevitable reunion have a lot to distract themselves with right now: On October 5, S-K frontwoman Corin Tucker released her first solo album, 1,000 Years, with the Corin Tucker Band while her former bandmates, Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss, just announced the formation of their new outfit, Wild Flag. Tucker's record—which she made with Seth Lorinczi of the Golden Bears and Unwound drummer Sara Lund, both of whom will back her tonight—isn't as furious as Sleater-Kinney's stuff, but it's every bit as smart; indie rock could use more grown-ups like her. With New Brunswick's Screaming Females, who may well be among Sleater-Kinney's most impatient fans.
