At a listening party for Kanye West's 808s & Heartbreak in October, Jay-Z, Mos Def, and other guests entered a darkened room where 40 nude models, their faces obscured by masks, posed while the record played. The artist behind the installation was the controversial Vanessa Beecroft, known for placing female models (typically naked) in unusual settings for her provocative art that's part sculpture, part performance, and part painting. Tonight, the Italian artist presents VB64, her first public performance in New York since 2000 (Kanye West will produce the filming of the event). See gesso sculptures cast from live models, resting on coffin-like bases, alongside 20 live models who will look exactly like the sculptures. It'll be up to you to figure out which ones are real.
