Forget It’s a Wonderful Life. For a truly heartwarming Christmas story this year, try John Waters’s camptastic 1974 classic Female Trouble. The queenly Divine stars as Dawn Davenport, a high school rebel who runs away from her drab suburban life after being denied the shoes she wants for Christmas and attacking her mother with the tree. Before long, the depravity is in full swing as her quest for fame leads her to conceive with a deadbeat (also played by Divine) at a dump, mainline liquid eyeliner, amputate limbs, and writhe in a tub of dead fish (doesn’t it just bring a tear to your eye?). See the second film in Waters’s “Trash Trilogy” today as part of BAM’s “Home for the Holidays” series.
