Maybe it’s the weather. What else could account for sunny tracks like “Up Up Up,” the lead single from In Light, the debut LP from Lafayette, Louisiana (where highs are currently in the 70s), quintet Givers? In an interview with Spin, the band
directs attention toward their home state’s weather-enabled festival scene, which not only provided its members with some serious good times but also exposed them to worlds of Cajun and zydeco music rarely heard in the rock mainstream. Either way, their upbeat music might be just the thing to get New Yorkers through these long winter months.
