A Russian-American singer-songwriter known for her quirky style (including dolphin-esque squeaking and beatbox-type riffing inserted into piano-led ballads), Spektor has spent the last decade pushing the envelope of indie pop. While she started with spiraling narratives that invited taking drumsticks to the keys and almost uncomfortable glottal stops, she has since emphasized more traditional production. Tonight she performs in promotion of her upcoming album, which will surely contain the ethereal beauty, staggering honesty, and catchy melodies she’s now loved for.
