SCIENTIFIC METHOD

Whoever says science is boring has clearly never been to the Imagine Science Film Festival, the fifth-annual event that combines art and science for results that are—often literally—explosive. Features range from fiction and animation to documentary footage of actual lab experiments, with panels and demonstrations throughout the week. Tonight’s shorts program is hosted by Luis Nieto, whose former research includes teaching cinematography to a primate subject, thus helping to create the world’s first monkey filmmaker. Gaze awestruck at some of the original images of microscopic life, or just learn a cool trick to do with whiskey that’ll impress everyone at the bar. Festival continues through November 16 at various venues, go to imaginesciencefilms.org/festival for full details.
