Grindcore godfathers Napalm Death are still touring on 2006s Smear Campaign, a pretty decent homage to the bands 1987 debut, Scum. No original members remain (and havent for 20 years), but the bands founding concept lives on: blast beats, cat-and-dog vocals, short songs. Here, theyre tour support for Devildriver, whose winking death-metal lite was born for an Ozzfest second stage. Shout for something old: Both bands come on tough and melt immediately at comparisons to their elders, like the (metal) middle management they are. With opening bands 36 Crazyfists, In Vitro, and Walls of Jericho.
